Case study: Identifying High-Potential Markets for a Mobility Startup
BACKGROUND
The client (an electric-scooter start-up) with initial success in 2 metro cities aimed to expand across India.
Client wanted to know, which Tier-1 & Tier-2 cities offer the best opportunity for profitable expansion in the next 18 months.
METHODOLOGY
Shortlisted 15 potential cities based on parameters like population density, urban mobility issues, EV adoption policies, charging infra. etc. using sources such as Census of India, NITI Ayog, BCG, Deloitte, NASSCOM, SM listening, Google trends.
Integrated datasets into a unified framework: demographics, mobility demand, infrastructure readiness & digital signals.
Used multi-variable regression and cluster analysis, cities were segmented to high/low potential & readiness.
Overlaid data on an interactive geospatial dashboard (using Tableau & GIS tools) to visualize micro-locations.
OUTCOME
Pune and Jaipur emerged as high-potential expansion markets with strong youth population, EV policy support, and ride-sharing demand. SM analysis revealed positive conversations about sustainable mobility in these regions.
Geo-cluster visualization identified Pune’s Hinjewadi and Jaipur’s Mansarovar as high demand launch zones.
